WILL MY DRIVEWAY BE CLEARED BEFORE 7 AM?
Although we would love to be able to guarantee a 7 AM arrival time it would be deceptive advertising to do so, as we cannot guarantee when the timing the storms will be! Obviously the later the snow starts the later we start. We typically will wait until the snow stops to dispatch our tractors unless there is a blizzard/prolonged snow event then our fast route times allow us to make multiple visits during these events.

If the city plows leave a ridge at the end of your driveway we ask that you please let us know and we will take care of it for free.

Plus, we are in and out of your driveway in just a few minutes minimizing the amount of disturbance caused to both you and your neighbors. In all likelihood you probably won’t even realize that we are there!
I HAVE AN INTERLOCKING STONE OR STAMPED/COLORED CONTRETE DRIVEWAY, CAN YOU STILL PROVIDE SERVICE TO ME?
Yes, our tractor mounted snow blowers are safe on these surfaces.
WHEN ARE THE DRIVEWAY MARKERS INSTALLED AND REMOVED?
All of our driveway markers go up about November 1st and are generally removed during the first week of April -depending on the weather. Please do not throw the markers away. If you would like to remove them yourself prior to April we ask that you kindly lay them down beside your garage and we will collect them when we arrive. Please note that if you remove the markers early, and then it snows again, we won’t be able to service your driveway – so if you remove the markers you are doing so at your own risk.

Yes, we are always looking for reliable, conscientious, hard-working, and honest staff.
IF I MOVE MID-WAY THROUGH THE SEASON CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK ON THE CONTRACT?
If you move mid season we can transfer the service agreement to the new owners of the property for the remainder of the season. However we will not issue a refund if they do not wish to use our services.
IF I AM AT THE END OF A ROUTE DOES THIS MEAN I WILL GET POOR SERVICE?
No, the service is the same for every one of our customers; just the timing is different. And, we try to ‘flipflop’ our routes every few snowstorm so that if you were at the end of a route one time you might be at the beginning the next time! Our routes are logistically organized to be able to deliver service as efficiently as possible based upon your geographic location. No preference is given or favoritism exercised. Everyone has equal priority.
WHAT TRAINING DO YOUR DRIVERS RECEIVE?
The most thorough in the business! In October every year each new recruit is trained on the navigation of his route, familiarized with the technical aspects of his equipment, provided with hours of practical driving exercises, and thoroughly briefed on safety issues surrounding both the public and himself. He is supplied with both literature and hands-on training, so don’t be surprised if you see a couple of Duluth Snow tractors out on the road pre-snow! No, the drivers aren’t crazy, they’re just practicing. We believe that preparedness reduces stress, the opportunity for damage, and the loss of time, which ultimately translates into the delivery of better service to our customers.
DO YOU OFFER CITY SIDEWALK & FRONT ENTRYWAY SHOVEL SERVICE?
Yes! We offer both a city sidewalk service and a front entryway shovel service called our “Detail Service” Please note these add-on services are completed by separate crews and are done after the driveway tractors come through. Our focus is on getting your driveway cleared as quickly and efficiently as possible.
DO YOU SPREAD SALT ON THE DRIVEWAY IF IT IS ICY?
No. In the event of freezing rain or ice, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to apply any necessary abrasives or de-icers. If you would like us to apply salt after an ice storm you can call us and we can send someone out for it. This would be billed separately from the driveway snow service.
WHAT ABOUT WATER VALVES ON MY DRIVEWAY?
It is the responsibility of the home owner to make sure that if any water valve caps are protruding in the driveway to contact the City to have them lowered. You will need to request that they send a service technician by to lower the pipe and cap to the level of the driveway. If the cap is not flush with the level of the driveway it may very likely get picked off and blown onto the lawn. So, please make sure that the city takes care of this in advance of the first snow. Otherwise, once snow arrives and covers the surface, this issue is not apparent and the city may charge you for repairs in the spring.
YOUR EQUIPMENT LOOKS BIG! WILL IT DAMAGE MY DRIVEWAY OR GRASS?
No. The compact tractor and blower will not crack your asphalt or concrete. Although it looks large the weight of the machine is evenly distributed over the extra large surface area of its tires, so that there is actually more weight per square inch being applied to your asphalt by your own car than by our tractors! And, our drivers are trained to lower their blowers in a controlled manner so that unnecessary jolts to the asphalt by the blower are minimized during the snow blowing process. Furthermore, driveway markers are installed on the edges of your driveway to identify the boundaries of the driveway so that the drivers do not drive on your grass. Snow blowing with a tractor is one of the best methods in the industry at the moment for clearing snow from your driveway!
IS THERE A PROBLEM IF A CAR IS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY?
No, our drivers are trained to work around them. However we will not clear the areas inaccessible because of the car. If you expect to have a car on the driveway when we arrive we recommend that you make sure to place it as close to the top and side of the driveway as possible to allow the driver maximum accessibility, or to move it onto the street if possible. One thing to remember is that if a car is blocking your driveway and we are unable to service the drive, if you want us to make a return trip after the car is moved there will be an additional cost.
*Please note, for the sake of efficiency, our drivers do not get out of their tractors and knock on your door to get you to move your vehicle(s). Our drivers also can not wait for you to move your vehicle if you try to run out while we are there.
ARE YOU INSURED?
Yes, we carry a $2,000,000 General Liability policy, as well as Commercial Auto. We also have MN Workers Compensation, and pay all applicable taxes required of a company with employees. We strongly suggest you only hire a fully insured company.
WHY

RELIABLE
Our tractors drive over any amount of snow, even if the city plows haven’t made a pass. This means we’ll always make it to your driveway, no matter the condition. Companies using pickup trucks and plows (or worse yet pickup trucks pulling trailers with small snow removal machines), sometimes simply can’t make it through big drifts or big snowfalls to your driveway, meaning you might be stuck….

QUICK
Our powerful tractors and inverted snowblowers back into your driveway and blow snow (80-92” at a time) as they driveway forward. Whether it’s 1”, 2”, or 12” of snow, our hard-working machinery doesn’t care – it’s purpose built for the job. We aim to service you and your neighbors in a very short window of time. Companies using plow trucks and small machines measure job time in minutes. Duluth Snow measures job time in seconds.
PRECISE
Our tractors and inverted blowers don’t just blow the snow – they place it precisely where it needs to be, planning ahead for a long, hard season, and using the space available. Small machines and truck plows just can’t do that. Our machinery won’t cause damage to your driveway or lawn – that’s right, lawn damage from truck plows pushing snow into your front yard. Trust us, there’s nothing more discouraging than seeing plow damage on beautiful Duluth front lawns come spring.
